As of February 22, 2025, several notable events have recently taken place at the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU) in Monrovia, Liberia:
24th Commencement Convocation
In November 2024, AMEU held its 24th Commencement Convocation at the Jordan Agricultural Institute in Royesville, Bomi County. Liberia’s First Lady, Madam Kartumu Y. Boakai, delivered the keynote address, urging graduates to apply their acquired knowledge to improve Liberia’s future. She shared her personal journey from humble beginnings to academic and personal success, encouraging graduates to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. AMEU President, Rev. Dr. Alvin E. Attah, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence, research, innovation, and community engagement. He highlighted the introduction of an online e-learning system designed to ease students’ on-campus burdens.
United Students Alliance Activities
In December 2024, the United Students Alliance of AMEU launched its manifesto and fundraising campaign ahead of the 25th Student Governing Council elections. The event, which was live-streamed, showcased the alliance’s plans and initiatives aimed at enhancing student representation and welfare on campus.
Academic Collaboration Initiatives
In May 2024, a delegation from AMEU, including the President, Provost, Dean of the College of Business and Public Administration, and External Affairs Officer, visited Heritage Christian University College in Ghana. The familiarization tour aimed to strengthen academic collaborations and share best practices between the two institutions. Discussions focused on opportunities for collaborative research, joint conferences, and student exchange programs to benefit both academic communities.
